As a young artist passionate about design, I’m always looking for inspiration, whether online or during my commute. My passion for design includes both traditional and digital art, blending them into my projects. Design is a continuous cycle for me, with each project offering unique challenges and opportunities. I enjoy wearing multiple creative hats; exploring painting, drawing, digital design, and photography. Despite inevitable challenges, working hands-on is where I feel most comfortable, it reignites my passion for design, and I love seeing my vision come to life in each step of the project or piece I am working on.

The design brief for this project was to revamp the logo and packaging for a tube product, and I chose Bath and Body Works lotion for this project. Despite being a big-name product, I felt their logo appeared cramped and slightly off-centered. To address this, I redesigned the logo to allow for more breathing room and opted for a clean, modern aesthetic. Using Illustrator, I crafted the logo, while the illustration was created using a combination of watercolor, pen, and gouache paints. After scanning the design into Photoshop to refine edges, I incorporated it into InDesign along with the dieline from Illustrator and other necessary information. The final design was then sent to the printer and applied to the existing packaging.

In 2022, I had the privilege of being awarded gold in the AAFCM Awards in the Sales and Marketing, Publication Design, and Cover category. The design brief tasked us with creating a magazine cover for American Quilter Magazine, focusing on showcasing texture through patterns. I selected the title "Let Your Designs Flow Free" because it captured the essence of the illustration and reflected my design approach. Throughout the project, I experimented with different patterns and used overlays to enrich the texture and visual appeal. All design and layout work was completed in Illustrator.

In 2022, I had the privilege of being awarded silver award in the AAFCM Awards for the Elements of Advertising, Illustration Single category. The project brief called for the design of an oil wash illustration for an editorial spread featuring a celebrity of our choice. During the research process, I drew inspiration from various artists, particularly Max Ernst and his grattage technique, which I incorporated into the highlights of the celebrity's hair. After completing the oil wash, I refined the details and enhanced features using black and white charcoal pencils. To ensure a polished finish, I scanned the illustration into Photoshop to clean up the edges before importing it into InDesign to create the editorial spread.
In this project brief, we were tasked with finding a Q&A style interview to illustrate a 2-page spread in a magazine. We were to illustrate the subject in a posterized style and coordinate the colors of the illustration to the spread, along with the adjoining callouts within the body copy. I went with a feminine monochromatic color scheme for this layout. I created the illustration in Illustrator and then sent it to InDesign for the layout and design of the editorial spread.

While the medium had to be oils, the creative decisions were left to me. Opting for a more painterly technique, I decided to use smaller brushstrokes for detailed areas intended to catch the viewer's eye. I used bigger, broader strokes for areas requiring less attention. I aimed to captivate the viewer with the dog's eyes and pose, evoking a sense of sadness and longing. By conveying this emotion, I hoped to encourage viewers to consider adopting a sheltered animal.
